Barriers to Wellbeing
Everyday life experiences impact the academic success of all students. The data indicates adverse childhood experiences, such as trauma, stress, hunger, environmental conditions, can present barriers to the wellbeing of the whole child. The NSBA Center for Safe Schools offers resources that address a child’s physical, mental, emotional, and overall wellbeing for success in academics, life and career.
In addition, we examine those environmental elements that may influence access or opportunity to a child’s safety such as early-childhood nutrition and education, pollution, substance abuse and mental illness.
