The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) has released a new brief to support reopening schools with SEL at the center. Social and emotional learning is critical to re-engaging students, supporting adults, rebuilding relationships, and creating a foundation for academic learning, especially in these unprecedented times. In response, CASEL released a new brief today, An Initial Guide to Leveraging the Power of SEL as You Prepare to Reopen and Renew Your School Community. School leaders can take action now using this guide to co-create supportive learning environments where all students and adults can enhance their social and emotional competencies, feel a sense of belonging, heal, and thrive.
This resource can be accessed here: Leveraging SEL as you Reopen and Renew Your School Community. They are also working on a more comprehensive resource that the Center is assisting with which will be available in June.
Also, in partnership with NAESP, this Friday at noon central, CASEL will be joining principals to review this new resource and discuss practical considerations for reentry as part their our CASEL Cares Webinar Series. Register here.
