Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Ohio School Boards Association's first Mental Health/Social and Emotional Learning Summit. For this event OSBA collaborated with nearly 20 education groups and mental health associations, including NSBA. This event built on OSBA's commitment to supporting all students and the state of Ohio's Student and Success Funding, which invested $675 million to help districts and schools support their students' academic achievement through mental health counseling, wraparound services, mentoring and after-school programs.
This event had over 1,200 attendees and featured multiple breakout sessions and a resource fair in which agencies shared information on their resources that are available to district staff.
It was extremely motivating to see the commitment Ohio and OSBA have made in supporting all students in these critical areas. With that in mind I am sharing OSBA's Mental Health Resources Took Kit and invite all individuals and associations to use this forum to highlight the work and events in your own communities.
